The people of Larkhall, Netherburn, Ashgill and Dalserf are being urged not to miss out on having their say about the future of their communities.

So far 1,600 people – nearly a tenth of the population – have taken part in a two-month consultation exercise that asks them to share their views and vision for the future of Larkhall and surrounding villages to help create a community plan.

The Larkhall Community Plan will set out proposals for the town’s development to ensure it grows as a thriving and vibrant place to live that meets the needs and reflects the priorities of current and future generations.

The consultation launched at the start of April with a publicity campaign involving social media, banners across the town, local media coverage and events.

As part of the final push, leaflets will be dropping through letterboxes this week urging people to complete the questionnaire before the consultation closes on 31 May 2019.

Nancy Barr, Chair of the Larkhall Plan Partnership, says the response so far has been tremendous but could be better: “While I’m delighted with the response, I’m not surprised. These communities are incredibly proud of and passionate about their villages.

“Everyone is talking about it so there’s a really good awareness of the campaign, but we need to turn that interest into action. The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete and we’ve made it as accessible as possible with both online and written options.

“We need as many people as possible to get behind this campaign to ensure the outcome is representative of the views of the community. The more voices we have the greater our influence so, please, if you have not done it yet, complete the survey before 31 May”.
