There was some discussion at the Managers Network meeting about the allocation of Carers Act funding in this financial year, 2019/2020. Not all HSCPs seem to be aware of how much money was agreed in the Scottish Government budget for implementing the Carers Act
Here is a letter from the Carers Act Policy Unit confirming that the funding for this year was set at £27.9m, it can be downloaded here.
We don’t know the funding allocation for 2020/21 yet, or how the delay to the spending review will impact this, but I’ll try to keep you up to date with information
Potential Funding for Young Carers
The Carers Policy Unit has asked us to let you know about a fund to support young people that might be applicable to young carers. This programme will make grants available to local groups and organisations offering informal learning opportunities for young people to explore the nature, history and culture of Scotland’s lochs, rivers, shorelines and waterways. Applications for the grant closes on 14th February
