The Carers Network took part in a Carer Allowance Supplement Roadshow on Tuesday this week. Delegates were staff and a volunteer member of the Network representing Carers.
The event was presented by Social Security Scotland, an agency set up by Scottish Government to implement the delivery of devolved benefits, the first being Carer Allowance. They are based in Glasgow and Dundee and aim to have a local presence and work with partners to deliver the changes.
The amount of Carers Allowance being paid by UK Government through DWP will remain unchanged. The increased amount or supplement of £221 will be paid through Social Security Scotland every 6 months.
